It is an issue that has major implications for impacted families, the medical profession, the police, social services, and for the legal profession amongst others. There is quite a bit of controversy surrounding the topic, not least around the guidelines as they currently stand and are applied. We want to use a twenty-four St George’s House consultation to grapple in detail with the topic in an effort to find a fair way forward for all parties.
