In July 2009 the House hosted the very first of its Inaugural Themed Consultation, choosing the topic 'The Art of Preaching'. Clergy who attended discussed the nature, purpose, and practice of preaching.
There were three specialist presentations on the following areas: Preaching the Old Testament (Canon Peter Johnson), Preaching the New Testament (Professor Markus Bockmuehl), Preaching and Hermeneutics (Canon Dr Hueston Finlay). Throughout the Consultation there was a study of the Narrative Style of Preaching led by the Revd Dr Tom Garrison.
